A Jive Turkey house partay!

This week i got a quick glimpse of Locos por Juana & Afrobeta giving me that Miami culture fix to hold me over for what the weekend might be brewing up.

Expecting nothing this Saturday night I got a earful of something. It’s been a busy week and a house partay to help unwind was an order for me atleast.

It’s cliché to pop out the miserably expensive Cristal and Dom Perigion have a mindless entourage follow and sleezy lipstick on your collar to boast about having a sick birthday party. The cliché stops here.
I had been to Dj Way’s parties but neva in celebration of his birthday. Mr. Way showed us the HouseWay no doubt. Bringing in from his own backyard friends like Stricktly B, Dj Aladdin, Will Renaut, and J.C. Corradi. I could write names here all night but that will not help you move your head to that sick house beat.
Pouring over from Lost Weekend at around 1am my friend and I stand at the tip of the bar sipping on our beer. The music is sounding like Space and I’m about to hurl. Being we just arrived I put my quick judgement on hold and suggest we sit. Before I could even order the first round of shots I see Dj Way making his way to the decks. I hear “Finally” from Kings of Tomorrow gets thrown on the decks and it’s pumping up the crowd. Sounds like the party is about to blow off. J.C. Corradi blows my mind I had to shake his hand and ask his name once he got off.
I enjoy Blue very much it’s always layed out an intimate and friendly atmosphere with more than often quality house music. This place is known for having the quality househeads grace it. If I lived at the beach I would more than likely choose this spot as my local hangout. A friendly barstaff with kickin house beats and a poolbar attached that serves my favorite hard to find English beer.
This party helped me to remember why I like Blue. I’ve seen many of my favorite djs & artists perform here like Gina Rene, Chuck Love, Kaskade, Andy Caldwell, Sheldon Prince and the list goes on; but also offers a platform for local talent. What if we brought Boo Williams here. Do you know what I’m talking about? Let me see.

Unfortunately pictures for this event are not available because I didn’t want to walk from 16th to Española with the camera. Plus it was suppose to be just a lounging beer night….wasn’t expecting to write about this event. Major kudos to Way and his homies. Peace

Watch out I’ll crash your party next!

Feeling Elastic Bond

Ever been snapped in the face by a flying piece of elastic? No No have you ever been snapped in the face by a flying piece of elastic and asked for seconds ? (no S&M pun intended)
I asked for seconds from Elastic Bond when they hit me with one of their tracks that had me “Feelin’Good”. This local Miami band is flinging out lyrical & vocal divinity over mind altering beats and sensual grooves; you can’t help but bond to. If this is what Miami is producing in the late night underground I want more of that “Fiya”!

After having “Feelin’Good”, & “La Verdad” from their latest album “Excursion” playin’ continuously on my iTunes for the past week I needed to make a point to check these cats out.

This past Saturday I walk into Transit Lounge a funked out spot where I have caught many home grown talents Miami has to offer like “Spam Allstars”, “Suenalo” as well as talents like Brendan O’Hara etc you know what I’m talking about. Always greeted by a sweet doorman at Transit never matters who is doing the door. I ask how long the band has been on stage and he let’s met know I’ve only missed 30 seconds. I’m all jazzed up about what’s about to happen. I look up on the stage and the band “tiene el Son encendido” meaning you had to be there to understand. They slowly stir in each groove pulling you in with each thump; “dayum” I’m glad I came! The crowd is dancing no restrictions on how your hips interpret the sounds, if sweat is drippin’down your face and you don’t care then you know that groove is orgasmic.

Had the opportunity to speak with some members of the band like Sofy Encanto (vocals) which gave me a quick run down of the Elastic Bond members playing that night and albums. Multi- talented producer Andres Ponce , Sofy Encanto & Orion on vocals, Buffalo on the guitar, & David Burgos on trumpets. Two other members who were present which names are with all due respect omitted because of my inability to remember. Further more the recent album “Excursion” is the band’s second album following “Madrugada”.

This group is obviously blessed with a cultured sound that will make fans out of many. May the universe open up and take them in with the grand entrance they deserve so they will continue breeding this unmistakable sound we call “Elastic Bond”.

Get the album as soon as you can and may I HIGHLY recommend “City Girl”; blew my mind. Some trip hop for your ass.

Circa28 ll Saturdays

After a serious hiatus from lounging at Circa this past Saturday I dabbled on that thought. Following the blissful encounter with Elastic Bond over at Transit I wanted to continue squeezing the juice out the night. (more to come about that event)

Walked up to the door and was greeted by a charming door man; Circa was looking good already.  I continued to walk into the lounge to find many heads dancing to Peter, Bjorn & John “Young Folks” .

The setting as always is chill and homey.

I spot buddy Dj Jay Meletiche taking care of business on the 1’s and 2’s. Jazzed up about the nights events I wave him down. After all he is responsible for that kick ass mix which introduced me to Elastic Bond. Give my love to the dj and continue on to scope the scene.

Walk right past the packed bar and make my way to the patio. The red cozy colours are visible with the romantic lighting kissing you. Mingled a little in the patio and I was off again. Bounced my way to the second floor. Climbed up the stairs looked up into the room and staring right back at me was a fresh mural of a dreaded haired mans face. Drum n’ Bass resonates from the speakers and the crowd is dancing, sweat runs down their faces and they are loving it. I take the opportunity to snap up some interesting shots since the lighting looks rather appealing to me. Took one of my favorite shots of the night when I decided to get a closer look at the bartender noticed the bar lighting backdrop was perfect, Snap . Although upstairs was poppin’ off I went back downstairs. Jay had the crowd getting rowdy to some 80’s hip-hop. Found myself at the bar mingling with several locals and out-of-towners. Always a very welcoming staff. Good time. If your in town on Saturdays check out Circa 28.

Mr.V brings that New York thing to Miami

This partAy was cool. I’m not one to be a fan of over crowded clubs with staggering waiting lines, raunchy ViP entrances, herds of better than thou attitudes, you get the picture. That is why I will always say YES to a party weaved together by Aquabooty. Last weekend August 9th, 2008 I decided to check out Mr.V; from New York. I had seen him play once here in Miami but I couldn’t quite pinpoint the feel I got when I heard him play because this had been during the conference. I decided to secure my thoughts on his set so I attended this event. I was pleased when I walked out of the elevator onto the penthouse. The music slapped me one time and my neck could not keep still. It was certain Mr. V was the one I wanted to dance to that night. The place felt cozy filled with that house music love. Stepping my way to the dj area I got greeted with friendly smiles and comments. We were all there under one spell; that House thing.

Pictures of the nights events; I didn’t attend the 3 hour pool party before this event but none the less these are the pictures of the night.
